The question is, what can be done to combat and prevent the aggravation of dry skin?
First and foremost.... Gramma was right, we need to drink more water! Our skin cells cant properly regenerate if we deprive ourselves of the water we need. As we know, over 50% of our body is made up of water.
Now lets talk about our morning routine. Believe it or not, that HOT morning shower, as invigorating as it feels, could be doing you more harm than you know. Starting your shower with some hot water can open the pours, which is good for cleansing. Dialing it back to warm while you lather up and then back to lukewarm or cool for the rinse will allow your skin to retain more moisture than that long HOT shower.
Selecting a moisturizing wash.
We all have various skin types, and we often know what will and will not work for our skin, especially if you have sensitivities. That being said, selecting a cleanser that is rich in moisture and contains as little chemical as possible is preferred. With so many people concerned about the environment we live in, the food we eat, and the products we put on our bodies, there is an ever growing trend back to simple and natural products. Choosing a handcrafted product often allows for more freedom of choice and a connection to the maker that allows for transparency and a connection to the people we are buying our products from.
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!
Applying a natural and light moisturizer will protect skin from flaking and drying out. Combat and prevent the woe's of winter skin!
